• Why do I write about cinema?

Since film criticism can combine two of my great passions – movies and writing –, I write about cinema with a great pleasure. I consider thinking about cinema is just as substantial as making movies. Being a film critic, in my opinion, means not only being an everyday program adviser but an analyst and commentator on the various global flows which in the movies appear. I am a devoted moviegoer, but not a geek. On the one hand I consider cinema as a medium of pure beauty and on the other hand I treat it as discourse. The most crucial aspect is the viewer’s disposition : if you decide to watch any kind of movies, it is a must to be active in reception. Despite of the darkness in the screening room, this form of art is highly about participation and communication. Movies and their auteurs ask questions about psychology, economy, politics and social issues in a more or less indirect way. Finding the answers and taking part in this conversation as a film critic is, therefore, an exciting task and might be a serious responsibility as well.

According to André Bazin, who was undoubtedly one of the greatest film theoretics of the last century, cinema replaces the world with one that conforms to our desires. Through writing about cinema, I try to discover the world replaced and solve the origin of these strong and amazing desires at the same time.
