Dominika Uhríková is a student of translation and interpretation at the English and Italian departments of the Comenius University in Bratislava and at the French department of the University of Prešov, Slovakia. In 2005, she released a book of poetry entitled “Ten Decagrams of Decadence” and since December 2007, she has been a part-time reporter at The Slovak Spectator, the country’s only English-language newspaper. She covers culture, her main focus being cinema and music.
Dominika has been regularly publishing translations of various literary works and she has translated into Slovak several movies screened at the Košice French Film Festival, which she co-organises as a member of the Alliance française de Košice administrative council. Her interest in cinema, however, is not limited to the linguistic level. She has taken part in various film events both in her homeland and abroad, including the “60 in Cannes” workshop at the Cannes International Film Festival in 2008. Dominika lives alternately in Košice and in Bratislava.
