Afternoons are flying away in Adana. Snapshots from today: policemen armed with clarinets and drums waiting for something in a park, guest of honour Theo Angelopoulos surrounded by amazing still pictures from his films and an army of photographers in a museum, happy jury members, directors and festival arrangers smiling on a boat floating in a sunny lake. My mind being cloudy, I started to collect other people’s strongest memories from the festival so far.
A director from Palestine: ”The energy of the festival, and the wonderful people working with it. They want us to know not only the movies, but also their country and their city. I also saw how popular the turkish films are among the people of Adana, they really come to see the films.”
An italian film critic: The turkish sausage you get in the morning. And the films Times and Winds and Mommy I’m scared in the Reha Erdem retrospective.
An american festival director: ”The women dancing in the kebab restaurant. And Hanna Miranenko dancing with them.”
