Film Scene Reenactment

from NISI MASA on Vimeo.

Philipp Kaindl asked guests of Diagonale 2011 to reenact a scene of a film they had seen. Not many were brave enough to step in front of the camera after a day in the dark (i.e. in the audience), but here are the select few with reenactments of scenes in the following five films:
"Headshots" by Lawrence Tooley
"Instructions for a Light and Sound Machine" by Peter Tscherkassky
"Papa" by Umut Dag
"Mörderschwestern" by Peter Kern
and "Mouse Palace" by Hund & Horn
Many thanks to those who participated.

Furcht und Zittern (Fear and Shivers)

Imagine a person living in a cocoon of meds and positive statements. Suffering from agoraphobia, anxiety and panic attacks, Philipp only goes out to face the world with the safety kit in one hand and the therapist’s hand in the other. However, city life is a jungle he cannot control, and hell breaks loose during a trip to the pharmacy: after failing to shoot her cheating husband, Herta walks in with a gun and is taken as a robber. In the person of this blonde, fearless old lady, life takes (…)

Direct-to-DVD #2

For this second incursion into the fabulous world of Direct-to-DVD, the fourth film by Nicole Holofcener, after Friends With Money.
In France, we have so many female directors that it’s almost illogical to wonder about sexism in the cinema industry – I said almost, but it’s not the main subject right now. Across the Atlantic, it’s another story. Sofia Coppola, Kathryn Bigelow, Catherine Hardwicke, Nora Ephron, Mira Nair, Nancy Meyers, Amy Heckerling, Julie Taymor and the Australian Jane (…)
